For a small country, it is amazing how many "famous" people were born in Hungary or are children of Hungarian immigrants! There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that before WW I, Hungary was a much larger country...twice as big, in fact. Secondly, many people fled Hungary in the 1900s either looking for prosperity, or because of the Nazis during WW II, or after the uprising of 1956. These people settled in many other countries around the world. Listed here are only some of the  "famous" people who were either (group one) born in Hungary themselves, or are (group two) 2nd or 3rd generation Hungarians. Prepare to be surprised at who some of them are!
